Privacy Policy
fock helps neighbors lend, borrow, and give away everyday things. This policy explains what the app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have.
In short
We collect only what fock needs to connect you with neighbors and keep the community safe. We never sell your information, we never show other members your exact address or phone number, and you can delete your account and data at any time.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Your phone number — used to create and sign in to your account by one-time code.
- Your profile — your name, an optional photo, and an optional bio.
- Your home address — used to place you on an approximate neighborhood grid so you can see what's shared near you. Your exact address is never shown to other members (see Location).
- Items you list — titles, descriptions, availability, and the photos or short videos you add.
- Messages — the conversations you have with other members about lending and borrowing.
- Connections — the friends, households, and circles you join or invite.
Information collected automatically
- Approximate location derived from your address — stored as a coarse grid tile, not precise coordinates.
- Device and usage information — device type, app version, and how the app is used, so we can keep it working and improve it.
- Diagnostics — crash and error reports that help us fix problems.
- Basic technical data such as IP address when you use our websites.
2. How we use your information
- To run fock — sign you in, show items near you, and let you message and arrange exchanges.
- To keep the community safe — prevent fraud and abuse, and act on reports.
- To send you notifications you've asked for (like a message or a loan reminder), which you can control in Settings.
- To understand how features are used and improve the app.
- To meet legal obligations.
3. About your location
Location is core to fock, so we handle it carefully:
- We use your address to place you on a coarse neighborhood grid — a general area, not a pin on your door.
- Other members never see your exact address. They see only an approximate distance or area.
- You choose how far out your items are visible, and you can change or remove your address in the app.
4. How your information is shared
With other members. Your name, photo, bio, and the items you list are visible to the neighbors and communities you share with. Messages you send are visible to the members you send them to.
With service providers. We use trusted companies to run fock. They may process data on our behalf under their own privacy and security commitments:
- Google (Firebase) — account sign-in, database, file storage, push notifications, analytics, and crash reporting.
- Algolia — powers search so you can find items.
- Google Maps Platform — turns an address into an approximate location.
- Email and notification delivery providers — to send account and service messages.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of members and the public.
5. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and address at any time in the app.
- Control notifications by category in Settings.
- Delete your account and data at any time — see how to delete your account. You can also email help@getfocked.com.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or export your data. Contact us and we'll help.
6. How long we keep it, and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your access ends immediately and your data is removed from our live systems right away.
- Routine backups are rotated out within 30 days, after which no copy remains.
- Messages you sent stay visible to the other person, but with your identity stripped — you appear only as a deleted member.
To run fock safely and honestly, a small amount of information stays behind — none of it your profile or contact details: anonymous aggregate statistics, safety records (so a ban can't be erased by deleting and re-joining), and a plain record that a deletion happened.
7. Children
fock is intended for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to use fock. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit who can access it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version here and update the date at the top. If the changes are significant, we'll do our best to let you know in the app.
10. Who we are
The fock app ("fock," "we," "us") is operated by Dodomu Capital, LLC. This policy covers the fock mobile app and the fock websites at fockon.com and getfocked.com.
